As part of our Integrated Vector Management (IVM) strategy, we attempt to physically remove sources of mosquito breeding. However, when physical control isn’t possible or if there is a serious and immediate threat to public health, we use pesticides to eliminate the public health threat. This approach poses minimal risk to humans, animals, and the environment.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is responsible under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) and the Food Quality Protection Act (FQPA) for regulating pesticides with public health uses, as well as ensuring that these products do not pose unintended or unreasonable risks to humans, animals, and the environment. Coachella Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District is fully committed to providing accessible facilities, elements and
channels of communication to all members of the public. As part of this commitment, Coachella Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District
