• Mosquitofish are visual predators and primarily feed during the day. If the water is covered, they can also detect prey through vibrations.

• Female mosquitofish are 2-3 inches long when fully developed; male mosquitofish are 1- 1.5 inches long.

• Young  fish,  also  known  as  fry,  are  ready  to  eat  mosquito  larvae immediately. Mosquitofish also can eat plankton and aquatic insects.

• Mosquitofish have been introduced to more than 60 countries on nearly every continent.

• Mosquitofish have been reported to eat between 15 and 65 mosquito larvae in 30 minutes. One fish ate 168 larvae in 8 hours by itself!
