Traps with carbon dioxide:  These traps are set for 24-hours. Mosquitoes searching for a blood meal are attracted to traps that have scents associated with them, such as carbon dioxide. As the mosquito flies toward the bait, a battery-powered vacuum traps the mosquitoes which are then collected by District laboratory staff. The mosquitoes are sorted by species and sex and then tested for mosquito-borne diseases.
