West Nile Virus Detected In Palm Desert For The First Time In 2019

Adult mosquito control applications scheduled in Indio, La Quinta, and Palm Springs this week.

Mosquitoes continue to test positive for West Nile Virus (WNV) in the Coachella Valley. Mosquitoes collected from traps near Monterey Avenue and Hovley Lane tested positive for the virus, the first virus detection in Palm Desert this year. In an effort to reduce mosquitoes and the risk of transmission of mosquito-borne viruses to people, the Coachella Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District will carry out targeted control methods where infected mosquitoes were trapped.
