MOSQUITO VIRUS UPDATE: WEST NILE VIRUS DETECTED IN CATHEDRAL CITY

The Coachella Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District detected West Nile virus (WNV) in samples of mosquitoes collected in two areas of Cathedral City; Waverly Dr and Golf Club Dr, and Hillcrest Rd and Palo Verde Dr. This is the first time this year WNV has been detected in Cathedral City. Since June 20, an additional 56 samples of mosquitoes collected from District traps have tested positive for WNV from areas across the valley, two more samples tested positive for St. Louis Encephalitis virus (SLEV). This brings the total number of samples positive for WNV and SLEV to 224 this year in the Coachella Valley. Please see the table below for the most recent results.
